Go to our Video Archives below and click on "A Sad Look at Christianity" and watch this video as these young men get trapped in maze of questions when their faith is challenged. Listen as they try to weasel out of the questions with some very confused answers. What you will see is the sad state of the church Monday through Saturday. How many more people in the local church are living the dual life as a Christian: with one foot in the world and another in the church? How sad it is to see so called Christians unable to articulate their beliefs as they live private lives that are no different from the culture of the world they are in.
Take Heed....

I'm I hearing this right? A Christian quoting a secular humanist worldview? Sounds like he's adopted ethical relativism over Christianity. He said, "take your religion and get to know yourself and know God in order to know how to interprete how you want to live. In the end, it's what is in your heart that counts". WHAT????? Where in the Bible does it say to do that?

Secualar humanist belief that there's no absolute moral code and therefore man must adjust his ethical standard to each situation according to his own judgement. BUT the Bible says, "trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on our own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge HIM, and He will make your paths straight"(Proverb 3:5-6 NASB). It says in proverbs that there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death (Proverb 16:23 NASB). IF we profess to be Christians, then we must be a people who are transformed in our thinking and transformed in our living that does set us apart from the world.

One of the guys said, "we're of the world, so we can't help but do that." That statement screams COMPROMISE at the core. It's not easy living counterculture and no one is able to live completely perfect because of our fallen nature, BUT in Jesus and by His grace, we can live a life that is set apart. "Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don't drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourself regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it" (2 Cor. 13:5-6 Message Bible).

Thank you Pastor Paul for posting this video. It got me thinking!

Very well stated. Relativism is emerging in our culture at an alarming rate as less and less people possess the ability to logically articulate basic tenants of the faith. This leads to compromising and rationalization of the moral behavior of nominal Christians everywhere.

I did not understand the lady condemning the men for attending the BET awards. I understand the men did not defend their position particularly well, and were misinterpreting the word. However, are you really less of a Christan for enjoying secular music and entertainment? It just seemed like she was not approving of the men going to see these artists perform.

I don't think that the young lady was condemning the men for attending the awards ceremony or listening to secular music per se, but what she was doing was exposing a flaw in much of the thinking of contemporary Christianity: that we can be hidden in our testimony as well as our lives as believers to the world at large- by not speaking out against overt sin. She was using very specific scripture references to show that there is a difference in the life of those who represent Christ as opposed to those who represent the culture of the secular world. In fact we should be different because we are different therefore our lives should reflect Christ not society at large. Also condemning people is not necessarily a good or bad thing. Believers are to "reprove, rebuke, and exhort (II Tim. 2:4) each other in love for the edification of the saints. And we also condemn the world and culture we live in -however not always with words- but with lives reflecting Christ. The world should see our lives as a mirror reflecting their sin and showing their need for Christ. This cannot be done if our lives and behaviors look just like theirs. That is why we are to live in the world but not be of the world" (1 John 2:16).
Great post and a good question Tam !

Well this is how i see it...you get two young black men @ the BET awards and question their faith with "hip-hop" of all things, i myself would be insulted that u would compare my relationship with GOD to music, because while you may never have rap music you will always have GOD.And second,we must also look at how we are continuing to expose ourselves as black people i mean come on now did the reporter really think she was going to get a different answer from them.I mean its not like everyday youre minding your own business and out of nowhere some one questions your faith,im not justifying the two young men just looking at it from both perspectives. And then to title it "a very sad look into christianity today" like everything was all good before they came across those two men,it should have been called "another very sad look into christianity today" or better yet "another very sad look into the black race today"so before some of us might want to point the finger at the two young men we must first learn to love before we learn to judje. So i hope that everyone who watched the video learned something because i know i sure did.Like Hosea 4;6 says"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:because thou hast rejected knowledge,i will also reject thee, that thou shall be no priest to me:seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy GOD,i will also forget thy children".Thank you all for reading.GOD bless.
